Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh on Sunday said that mob lynching is a problem throughout the country.
In response to a question on mob lynching issue specifically in western Uttar Pradesh, Singh said, "Mob lynching problem is in the whole of India, why should western Uttar Pradesh be singled out?" Singh, member of Parliament from Ghaziabad, is here to attend the second day of BJP's State Working Committee meeting.
As per Ministry of Home Affairs statistics, 45 persons have been killed in 40 cases of mob lynching across nine Indian states between 2014 and 3 March, 2018. On July 23, the central government constituted a high-level committee to curb the menace. The committee headed by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba is expected to submit its recommendations in near future.
