Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who today met the families of Patna blast victims amid heavy security, congratulated the people of Bihar for the courage they showed in the rally on October 27.

"I congratulate the people of Bihar for the courage and patience they have shown. Even after the blasts took place, they maintained calm," said Modi.

"The way the people of Bihar behaved in the midst of bomb blasts is a testament to their courage. I salute this land and the people of this state (Bihar)," he added.

Talking to media here, Modi said many innocent people of Bihar lost their lives in the BJP's historic 'Hunkar' rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

Modi, who could not meet the family members of two blasts victims due to the bad weather, also reached out to them and said that he would definitely meet them if he gets a chance in the future.

Modi also wished the nation and the people of Bihar, in particular, a prosperous Diwali and Chhath Puja.

The BJP prime ministerial candidate, who met the families of the Patna blasts victims, assured them all support from his party.

Amid tight security, Modi first headed for Gaurichak where he offered his condolences to the kin of Raj Narain Singh, who had died in the serial blasts.

Modi later headed for Kaimur, where he met the wife and children of Vikas Singh and offered his deepest condolences to the bereaved family. He then paid his tribute to another blasts victim Rajesh Kumar in Nalanda.

Modi also met the family members of other blasts victim in Begusarai.

The BJP prime ministerial candidate, along with senior Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, handed over a cheque of Rs. 5 lakh to each of the families.

Modi's visit was delayed earlier this morning due to dense fog.
