The Punjab Government, which is under sharp criticism over the Moga molestation case, jumped into action finally on Saturday and ordered all Orbit buses off the roads with immediate effect.
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, who issued the order, asked the company to send its bus operating staff on orientation course.
He said no bus belonging to the company should be back on the road until the orientation course is completed.
His move came after a state wide outrage over the shocking incident, including vociferous protests in different parts of Punjab by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress.
A 13-year-old girl died after she and her mother were allegedly pushed off a moving bus after resisting a molestation bid on April 29.
Locals rushed the two to a nearby hospital where the girl was pronounced dead.
The incident took place on a highway connecting Moga and Bathinda.
As per reports, four people, including the bus driver and his attendant, have been arrested.
The bus reportedly belongs to Orbit Transport Company, owned by Orbit Aviation Pvt Ltd, which is co-owned by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
The police have impounded the bus.
