The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday blamed Trinamool Congress (TMC) goons for the murder of a youth who had protested against gambling in South 24
Parganas district.
West Bengal BJP chief Rahul Sinha, who met the family members of the victim today, said, "Today, a youth was killed just because he opposed illegal activities. TMC's goons have done this thing; everyone is
saying this. This incident would not have taken place if the police had reached on time."
"Police reached late; their irresponsibility is also the reason for such an incident taking place. The Trinamool Congress has taken up this job of silencing anyone who raises their voice against illegal
activities like gambling, illicit liquor and other such things," Sinha added.
"We will meet the governor and write to the central government urging them to put pressure on the West Bengal Government to investigate the matter and punish the culprits," Sinha added.
According to reports, Milajul Mollah (the victim) protested against the gambling activities going on at a fair in the Budge Budge area of West Bengal. The organisers of the gambling event, infuriated by the
protest, broke into Milajul's house later, and shot him dead.
