An evening titled 'Monsoon Verses' celebrating the poetry of poet Abhay K was organized in Kathmandu by the South Asian Poetry Festival.
At the event, Abhay K was introduced by Chirag Bangdel, the president of the festival, and Greta Rana, MBE, a writer and a poet.
"In few years Abhay has been in Nepal, he has won hearts of everybody with his poetry, friendliness and his love for our ways and traditions. He has given us The Seduction of Delhi which has a Zen like feeling as well as his collections of poems on Nepal titled Jatra," Bangdel said.
Abhay read from his collection of poems on Nepal titled 'Jatra' and his past poetry collections -The Seduction of Delhi, Remains, Candling the Light, and Enigmatic Love.
He read Boudhanath, Rains in Kathmandu, Thamel, Mountains, A Remittance Sender's Wife from Jatra, I'll not speak of love, The flower I was once and A Love Song from Enigmatic Love, In defence of lies, Hero, She rises from the grave, Drug and Drug Addicts from his collection Candling the Light; Woman, Waves of time, Blessed, Row On, Gogol, Anna Akhmotova from his collection.
Senior Nepalese poet Usha Sherchan too read a few poems such as Fewa, Pashupati Old Age Home and Aryaghat from Abhay's collection of poems on Nepal titled Jatra.
Bangdel read Jamun, Neem and Jawaharlal Nehru University from his collection The Seduction of Delhi.
The programme was attended by a large number of people from cultural arena, including actors, poets, artists, RJs, TV and theatre personalities among others.
Abhay K is an Indian poet-diplomat, author of two memoirs and six poetry collections.
He is also the editor of CAPITALS -A Poetry Atlas of the World Capitals. His recent collection of poems The Seduction of Delhi (Bloomsbury) is a poetry bestseller. He has been honoured with the SAARC Literary Award, nominated for the Pushcart Prize. He has featured in Forbes India's Celebrity Authors 2014 and has a certificate in poetry writing from International Writing Program, the University of Iowa. His Earth Anthem has been translated into 24 global languages.
