Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on striker Luke Shaw for making an impressive return from a 10-month injury lay-off in the new Manchester United manager's first game in charge.
While praising Shaw's determination to bounce back from injury, Mourinho revealed that the striker had decided to work on his fitness ahead of pre-season rather than going on holiday during the summers.
"When I found Luke at the training ground, it was a surprise for me because I thought he couldn't be ready to train without any type of limitation, but he did fantastic in the summer. He sacrificed his holiday," Mourinho was quoted as saying by goal.com.
Shaw, who was sidelined after breaking his leg against PSV in September last year, made his long-awaited comeback in United's 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
The match also marked the beginning of Mourinho's era at Portugal.
The 21-year-old was named in United's starting XI and he played 45 minutes of the match at the DW Stadium.
