The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that the Madhya Pradesh Government is keen to ensure a 'fairest possible probe' is done into the death of journalist Akshay Singh.

"The family members of the deceased journalist, Akshay Singh, have requested that viscera sample tests be done at AIIMS in Delhi. The state government has immediately agreed to that request. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has directed Director General of Police yesterday to send the sample to AIIMS or CFSL in New Delhi so that the truth comes out," BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao told ANI.

"The state government wants to show its eagerness in ensuring that not only the truth comes out of this test, but also that there is a transparent testing to find the cause of death of Akshay Singh. The state government is keen to ensure a fairest probe possible into this case," he added.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had yesterday accepted the appeal of Akshay Singh's sister wherein she demanded the examination of the viscera sample of her brother, who died while covering the Vyapam scam, to be examined outside the state.

On Saturday, Akshay Singh suddenly took ill and died after having interviewed parents of a girl who had been found dead near railway tracks, after her name figured in the Vyapam scam.

The incident took place in Meghnagar near Jhabua town.

The journalist was rushed to the civil hospital and later to a private hospital, but doctors failed to revive him. From there he was taken to another hospital in nearby Dahod in Gujarat, where he was declared brought dead.
