President Pranab Mukherjee will address a special session of Himachal Pradesh assembly on its Golden jubilee celebration on Friday.
Special arrangements have been made for this session. Himachal Pradesh assembly is housed in the historic building called Council Chambers, where central assembly during British Raj was held and inaugurated by Lord Reading, the then viceroy of India on August 27, 1925 and had been witness to several historic occasions.
Mukherjee, who is in Shimla on a three-day state visit, will also inaugurate the Tagore Centre for the Study of Culture and Civilization and deliver the first Rabindranath Tagore Memorial Lecture at Indian Institute of Advanced Study.
He will also attend the annual convocation of Himachal Pradesh University.
On May 25, the President will be chief guest at the inaugural function of Maharaja Agrasen University at Kalujhanda, Solan.
