Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav laid the foundation stone of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway here on Sunday.
"I'm happy that many good policies have been initiated, but work is being done at a slow pace," said Singh.
The Samajwadi Party chief further stressed on the need to complete the project on time.
According to the state officials, the Agra-Lucknow Expressway project is scheduled to be completed in the next two years.
A programme had been organised at Hingot Kheria in Agra from where the expressway would start.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was also present on the occasion.
The expressway will be about 270 km in length. The six-lane eco-friendly expressway is proposed on minimum distance and minimal agricultural land formula.
