Following Meteorological Department's predictions of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, the Maharashtra Government has announced that all schools and colleges will remain closed in Mumbai and the neighbouring Thane district on Saturday.

Persistent rains continue to lash Mumbai disrupting normal life.

Mumbai's lifeline, the rail system has not yet been fully restored and is running partially across selected stations.

Traffic on roads has also been affected due to severe water logging.

Air services, too, are running behind schedule.
