Britain number one Andy Murray has pulled out of the ongoing Italian Open in Rome due to 'fatigue'.

The two-time Grand Slam champion was scheduled to square off against David Goffin in the third round on Thursday in a bid to extend his run of 10 successive victories on clay, the BBC reported.

Murray, who had considered missing the tournament to rest for the French Open, eased past Jeremy Chardy 6-4, 6-3 in the second round.

Prior to the tournament in Rome, Murray had claimed back-to-back victories in Munich and Madrid.
