Following the return of Jagmohan Dalmiya as Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) president, former cricketer Kirti Azad on Monday said the practice of the top posts in cricket administration being passed around between same people has 'ruined' the game.

He also accused the cricket administrators of being opportunistic.

"Personally I have a very good opinion of Jagmohan Dalmiya. But is this not the same Srinivasan who had initiated a court case against Dalmiya, accusing him of a fraud of Rs. 44 crores? Now, seeing the opportunity they have joined hands," Azad told ANI.

"It is like repainting the same old building and calling it new. It is important that a national sports bill is passed. People are holding the posts for 10, 15 or 20 years. They are ruining the sport," he added.

Meanwhile, BCCI vice president (South Zone) Dr. G Gangaraju said that the newly elected administration will work towards the betterment of the game.

"We have got very good team of people. The president welcomed the team. All the office bearers are willing to work together for the betterment of cricket. I am sure this team of people would do a wonderful job for the game of cricket," Gangaraju said.

Jagmohan Dalmiya was formally elected as the BCCI president during the board's Annual General Meeting held in Chennai earlier in the day.

Dalmiya has replaced N. Srinivasan, after the Supreme Court barred the latter from standing as a candidate for the top job following its probe into a betting and fixing scandal surrounding the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Anirudh Choudhary has been elected as treasurer of the body while Anurag Thakur and Amitabh Chaudhary have been elected as BCCI secretary and joint secretary respectively.
