"I am sure Anupam Kher sahab will do good work," said former Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) chairman Gajendra Chauhan as he extended his best wishes on Wednesday to the newly-appointed chairman.
"My good wishes are with him," added the ex-FTII chairman, while speaking with ANI.
Chauhan, whose appointment in 2015 triggered massive student protests, also said, "My tenure ended on March 3, 2017. Whatever good things I could do, I did in these months. The certification of my work is CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General of India) report."
Veteran actor Anupam Kher's appointment has brought a wave of happiness in the film fraternity.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, while speaking to ANI, extended his good wishes to the 62-year-old and said, "Kher sahab has a great body of work in the Indian as well as the International cinema. A person who has done cinema, television, and who also owns an acting institute. A person who is passionate about his work, a person who wants things to improve, a person who wants things to grow. if that is a person who becomes the chairman of FTII, it will definitely grow. He will be brilliant in this job."
The 'Indu Sarkar' star, a recipient of the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his contribution in the field of cinema and arts, is 'excited and looking forward to this appointment.'
"How I can enhance, how I can make my contribution, that is what is important," the newly appointed FTII chief told ANI.
