A week before the Myanmar elections, the National League for Democracy (NLD) rally was attacked by men with machetes, injuring a lawmaker and two other people.
NLD campaign manager Aung Myo Oo who also witnessed the horrific incident on Thursday night told Reuters that one of the accused came and started yelling at the vehicle.
Later, he returned accompanied by two other men holding knives and swords and attacked the people around the campaigning truck.
They also attacked Naing Nan Lynn, a lawmaker and the candidate from Aung San Suu Kyi's party. She has suffered serious injuries on her head and arms. All three victims are being treated at Yangon General Hospital.
The attackers have been arrested but the motive behind the attack still remains unknown.
General elections in Myanmar are scheduled to be held on November 8.
The election is being touted as the most participative polls in the history of Myanmar, and Suu Kyi, the head of Myanmar's largest political formation NLD will be participating in a full-fledged election for the first time since 1990.
