US Open champion Rafael Nadal has said that he had a lot of doubts on whether he would be able to bounce back from his seven-month injury lay-off, as he cried tears of joy after completing his journey from wounded warrior to dominant champion.
According to the Mirror, Nadal said that he never thought he could achieve so much after coming back, and the US Open victory was the most emotional of his career.
He said that to play the match against one of the best players in history in Novak Djokovic, he had to be perfect to win.
Nadal's statistics since returning to the court make for impressive reading and his two major triumphs have taken him to third in the all-time list behind Pete Sampras (14) and Roger Federer (17), the report said.
