Nagaland Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Zeliang's meeting came under the backdrop of a trouble-torn Golaghat District along the Assam-Nagaland border, which is gradually returning to normal, while stringent security continues to remain in place after the two state governments have agreed to work together to rehabilitate the affected people and resolve the border dispute as soon as possible.
On August 12, miscreants from Nagaland had raided the villages along the inter-state border and gunned down tribal villagers from Assam. More than a dozen people have been killed in the violence since then. An estimated 10,000 people from 13 villages in the area, who had to leave their houses following the clashes, are currently seeking shelter in 12 relief camps at Uriamghat and Sarupothar.
Earlier in the day, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Chouhan had also called on Prime Minister Modi.
