Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has reportedly backed Test and ODI captain Misbah-ul Haq to stay in his post until the next 50-overs World Cup in 2015.
Sethi's public support provides a welcome boost for the veteran batsman, who has come under increasing criticism for Pakistan's poor performances in the short and long form of the game this year, with several former players and critics calling for a change of leadership
According to the Daily Times, a PCB statement said Sethi insisted that Misbah has his full confidence and should continue to remain captain until at least the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2015.
The statement further said Sethi had mentioned earlier that Misbah would remain captain until the 2015 World Cup and had never contradicted himself or reversed his position.
