Pakistani batsman Nasir Jamshed has said that his 'over-eagerness' to improve his fitness is responsible for the decline of his batting form and consequently, his dropping from the Pakistan squad.
Regarded as one of the most talented young left-handed opening batsmen from Pakistan at the moment, Jamshed becoming only the third Pakistani to make consecutive half centuries in their first and second international matches and raised hopes of a long and fruitful career.
However, www.PakPassion.net reports that Jamshed's subsequent failures with the bat in his debut Test series against South Africa as well as lack-lustre performances in the Champions Trophy, ODI series against West Indies, Zimbabwe and South Africa in 2013 proved to be a major setback to his nascent career
Jamshed said that instead of building up on his good form against Australia and India and continuing to improve his batting, he started to concentrate too much on improving his fitness and reducing his weight, leading to his run of low scores which saw him dropped from the Pakistan side.
However, Jamshed said that apart from those issues and some minor adjustments needed to improve his technique, there are no mental issues or major technical problems with his batting.
Jamshed also said that he has gone back to his previous diet and is now feeling a lot healthier, stronger and fitter and hoped that he would be back to his best very soon.
