Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said he is looking forward to meet his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh to mark a 'new beginning' in the strained relationship between the two nations.

Nawaz said both the countries have spent huge amounts on developing a nuclear bomb over the past three decades, but now they are ready to re-engage with India in a substantive and purposeful dialogue, Daily Times reports.

Sharif said Islamabad and New Delhi have wasted 'massive resources' on the nuclear arms race, which could have been used for economic well-being of the citizens.

Nawaz and Singh are expected to hold a landmark meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, despite fresh clashes in disputed Kashmir this week, the report added.
