Ousted Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Pakistan on Thursday to attend a hearing in an accountability court tomorrow in connection with the corruption references filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Sharif, who left for London a few weeks ago to see his ailing wife, landed at Islamabad's Benazir Bhutto International Airport at around 8.20 am. He was received by a large number of PML-N members and party supporters.

A four-member NAB team was scheduled to serve court summons to Sharif upon his arrival, but the former Prime Minister immediately left for Punjab House where he is expected to address a meeting of party workers today.

The team was waiting outside Rawal Lounge to complete the required paperwork regarding surety bonds to be presented before the court. However, Sharif went away in his car right after exiting the state guest house at the airport.

The team reached Punjab House to finish their task where PML-N leader Dr Tariq Chaudhry submitted surety bonds worth Rs1 million to secure bail for Sharif and assured that the politician will attend the hearing tomorrow.

Islamabad based accountability court has issued bailable arrest warrants against Sharif in connection with the cases related to two of his properties, that is the Flagship Investment case and the Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metal Establishment case.

Cases of disproportionate assets have been filed against Sharif, his sons Hassan and Hussain, daughter Maryam, son-in-law retired Captain Mohammad Safdar and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
