The senior leaders of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Friday participated in the Swachh Bharat Andolan here. In attendance were party chief Sharad Pawar, former Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and Baramati Member of Parliament (MP) Supriya Sule.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted the contribution, taking to twitter to express his feelings.
"Appreciable effort by Sharad Pawar ji. His support to Swachh Bharat Mission will help create a Clean India," he wrote.
This action by the NCP leaders is likely to fuel speculations of the party joining hands with the BJP in Maharashtra. Sharad Pawar has already extended 'unconditional support' to the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis-led government.
