Sonam Kapoor-starrer 'Neerja' was expected to receive immense critical acclaim, but now, it seems to have been successful in rolling cash in the Box-Office on the very first day.
According to media expert Taran Adarsh's recent tweet, the movie has opened with a gross amount of 4.50 crore INR approximately, which is quite a successful one for an average budget movie like 'Neerja.'
"#Neerja Fri Rupees 4.70 cr [700 theatres/limited shows]. India biz... Expect biz to zoom upwards on Sat and Sun... Quality cinema triumphs!," reads his tweet.
According to a trade site, the business of 'Neerja' was best in North with East Punjab collecting over Rs. 50 lakhs nett and Delhi/UP earning Rupees one crore approximately. Mumbai circuit has approximately collected Rs. 1.25-1.50 crores.
Taran Adarsh's tweet further says, "#Neerja: Strong merits + Superb word of mouth + Glowing reviews spread like wild fire, even before Day 1 could come to a close... contd."
"#Neerja: Biz witnessed SUPER growth towards evening/night shows. Numbers multiplied rapidly, especially at metros," he adds.
Based on Neerja Bhanot, the movie also stars actors like Shabana Azmi, Shekhar Ravjiani and others in small but pivotal roles. Having released in 700 screens in India and made with a budget of Rs 21 crores, the film opened to 40 percent occupancy in the morning shows.
Ram Madhvani's film is a perfect biopic with barely any flaws, for the first time every critic had only praises for the movie. Neerja was out and out loved by every critic and viewer.
