Italian designers have reportedly developed innovative 'thought-blocking' head accessories that could help wearer escape 'mind-reading' surveillance technology.
Designers Lisa Kori Chung and Caitlin Morris, both researchers at Fabrica in Italy, started working on the project as they were thinking about clothing and privacy.
According to Fast Company, the duo researched current surveillance techniques, including facial recognition and brain scanning technology and aimed at incorporating the two in an urban setting.
As the researchers imagined how the technology to detect someone's emotions with improved technology would continue to evolve, the duo created three accessories, a hat, a collar and a mask.
The hat transmits sound through bone conduction, the collar sends a tiny electric shock, and a mask flashes bright lights.
The report said that each object has a detailed, almost Baroque design inspired by other protective objects such as window bars, fences, the printing inside security envelopes.
Chung and Morris said that they wanted to design these technology-heavy pieces as beautifully crafted accessories.
