New National Youth Policy to be announced soon: Jitendra Singh

Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Jitendra Singh on Saturday said that a new National Youth Policy will be announced soon.

Addressing NCC Cadets at the NCC Republic Day Camp 2014 here today, he informed that the Cabinet has already cleared the New National Youth Policy last week.

Singh said that a large number of people, especially youth from across the country, were engaged and consulted during the drafting of the new policy.

Singh said that creation of an institutional mechanism between different departments and ministries for better synergy will be ensured in the new policy.

He said that the new policy aims to create a productive work force, develop a strong healthy generation, creation of infrastructure at Block level, promotion of social values and support to youth at risk and equal opportunity.

Jitendra Singh complimented the cadets for their smart drill and enthusing displays. He also appreciated the commitment of NCC to groom future leaders.

Highlighting the immense contributions of NCC, he mentioned it to be the foremost organisation engaged in youth empowerment, promoting unique mix of scholastic education and multifaceted activities enabling all round development of young generation in the country.

He exhorted the NCC cadets to emulate the illustrious alumni NCC fraternity for ushering change in society by their unique training experiences besides contributing towards 'Nation Building'.

Earlier on his arrival, he was received by the Director General National Cadet Corps, Lieutenant General A. Chakravarty.

The minister was presented an impressive 'Guard of Honour' by select cadets followed by soulful melodious tunes by the Cadets Band from North Eastern Region (NER).

The bands enthralled the visiting dignitary and other eminent spectators with their spectacular display.

Later, during his visit to Flag Area, Singh was confidently briefed by young cadets about their respective state tableaux on contemporary socio-economic themes.

The versatile NCC cadets from state contingents presented a steering cultural programme based on National Integration and rich Indian culture which included Ballet performance by Maharashtra Directorate, Group Dance by PHHPC, Kerala and Lakshadweep Directorate and a Group Song by the cadets of Rajasthan Directorate.

The Republic Day Camp 2014 is being attended by 2070 cadets specially selected from 17 directorates covering all the States and Union Territories and 82 foreign cadets from friendly foreign countries under the Youth Exchange Programme.
