Newcastle netted a fourth consecutive win against Liverpool as Spanish substitute, Ayoze Perez, scored a goal 17 minutes from time to give his team a 1-0 win over Brendan Rodgers' club.

The victory was Newcastle's first at home over the reds in five attempts and has moved them a point behind their opponent, reported the BBC.

The loss suffered by Liverpool has left them nine points behind Chelsea, who stretched the gap to 12 points by winning another match in the afternoon.
