NITI Aayog CEO hails Budget' 18 as 'forward-looking'

NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant on Thursday hailed the Union Budget 2018, saying that 'it is forward-looking budget in totality.'

Speaking to ANI, Kant said the budget presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, is transformational particularly for social and agriculture sector.

"It's very transformational budget particularly for social and agriculture sector. It's very forward looking budget in totality. Finance Minister put resources into hands of agriculture sector & MSMEs," he added.

He further said that Finance Minister has focused very strongly on education and health sectors as well.

Earlier today, the BJP-led NDA Government presented the Union Budget for 2018-19.

A new health insurance scheme for the poor, a slew of measures for the agriculture and rural sectors and some relief in income tax for the salaried class and senior citizens, were major announcements made by the Finance Minister the last full budget before the general elections.
