The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav do not want to take any chances, and are extremely aware that sharing the dais with Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi could affect the electoral fortunes of the Mahagathbandhan alliance in Bihar.
"Rahul Gandhi contested 243 seats the last time, but managed to win only four seats. Lalu ji and Nitish ji are aware of the fact that the grand alliance will sink if they share the stage with Rahul Gandhi. So, they consider it to be a bad omen to share the dais with him," said BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain.
"Neither Lalu ji nor Nitish ji are going, which means they are aware of the fact that it will be a bad omen if they share the stage with him (Rahul Gandhi). So, the Congress must ponder over the fact that when Lalu and Nitish are not giving importance to Rahul Gandhi, then how will the workers of the three parties [RJD, JD(U) and Congress] give importance to each other," he added.
According to reports, Nitish and Lalu are likely to skip Rahul Gandhi's rally at Ramnagar in Bihar's West Champaran on September 19.
