Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday alleged that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is least concerned about the development of Bihar and wants to divide the state on lines of caste and community.

The former BJP president, who was addressing a rally here, criticised Nitish for trying to defame Prime Minister Modi.

"Nitish Kumar is making false allegations against the BJP and Narendra Modi. He is trying to defame him. When Bihar needed help, the Gujarat Government helped him with a cheque of Rs. five crores," Gadkari said.

"Nitish kumar does not want to develop Bihar. He wants to divide Bihar on lines of caste and community," he added.

Gadkari also used the occasion to reach out to the members of the farming community.

"I asked about what the farmers of Bihar cultivate. I was told they grow wheat and rice. Wheat and rice cannot change the image of farmers. We need to change the pattern," he said.

Elections in Bihar will begin from October 12. They will be held in five phases.

The results will be declared on November 8.
