Australia Test and ODI captain Michael Clarke has revealed that no Australian squad has ever been involved in corruption while playing, and said that it is wrong for all cricketers to be tarred by match-fixing.
Clarke said that Australian players have been taught from a young age about corruption and what to be on the lookout for in terms of approaches and knew the difference between right and wrong.
According to Sport24, Clarke said that for the current Australian team, they all clearly know that there is no room for corruption in their team, adding that a big part of their job is to uphold the integrity of cricket and feels that they do it well.
The skipper said that he is very happy, satisfied and confident that Australian players are making the right decisions.
Clarke further said that he feels that everybody involved in cricket is disappointed that things like fixing happen, but added that he wants to pay credit to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Cricket Australia for the work they put in to try and stop it.
British media had reported this week that New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum had been asked to fix games by a world renowned former cricketer in 2008 after his evidence to the ICC's anti-corruption unit was leaked.
