Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday ordered officials to not to issue any license to set up meat shops in the residential areas in the state.
Earlier this year, in May, Khattar ordered the closure of unlicensed slaughterhouses and meat shops in the state. Around 666 meat shops were closed after the order.
The Haryana Government directed all the municipal bodies to regularize selling of meat in the state.
In order to get a license, meat shop owners have to follow 21 conditions set up by the municipal body which includes not slaughtering animals in the premises used for selling meat, slaughtering can be done only at a place specified by the municipal body.
