Foreign Secretary Sujata Singh has conveyed to the Afghan leadership that no terrorist attack can have an impact on New Delhi's strong determination to assist Kabul in its reconstruction and development efforts.
According to official sources, the Indian Foreign Secretary in her first solo visit abroad travelled to Afghanistan from August 23 to 25 during which she held talks with her counterpart Ershad Ahmadi.
Sujata Singh also called on Afghan President Hamid Karzai, First Vice-President Marshal Fahim, Second Vice-President Karim Khalili and Foreign Minister Zalmai Rasool during her visit.
The Foreign Secretary was accompanied by officials of the Ministry of External Affairs, including Sanjiv Ranjan, Joint Secretary, Development Partnership Administration and Rudrendra Tandon, Joint Secretary (Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India).
Singh conducted a full review along with Indian envoy to Afghanistan, Amar Sinha, and officials of the Development Wing of the embassy, official sources said.
The Indian Foreign Secretary also paid a special visit to the Consulate General of India, Jalalabad, which was recently targeted by a suicide bomb attack which was successfully thwarted by Afghan security forces. She also called on Governor of Nangarhar Province Sherzoi in Jalalabad.
