Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and actress Priyanka Chopra have all accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'challenge' to take the 'Swachh Bharat' mission forward.

The team of the popular comic soap opera 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' also said that they would put all their efforts in making the Prime Minister's vision successful.

Prime Minister Modi, while officially launching the 'Swachh Bharat' mission today, had invited nine people including Sachin Tendulkar, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Ambani, Shashi Tharoor, Baba Ramdev , Salman Khan, Kamal Hassan, Goa Governor Mridula Sinha and the team of soap opera 'Taarak Mehta ka Oolta Chashmah ' to take the initiative forward.

Responding to this, Goa Governor Mridula Sinha told ANI, "I will be very honest in fulfilling this mission. It is every citizen's mission. Hope Goa is the first state to achieve this."

Actress Priyanka Chopra and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar also wrote on Twitter that they had humbly accepted Prime Minister Modi's challenge.

"I humbly accept respected Prime Minster Narendra Modiji's challenge. This is an idea that is long overdue. If we dont get involved and support this campaign, nothing can happen. But if we come together we can make a difference. Every action we take will be important. I want to make the change. I want a clean India. It's time to clean up our act," Chopra wrote on Twitter.

Disha Vakani, lead actress of the daily soap 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' told ANI, "We are honoured that the Prime Minister invited us, we will surely put all our efforts."

The show's producer Asit Modi added, "This is an opportunity to serve the nation for us."

Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi officially launched the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' from Rajpath, and also administered Swachh Bharat pledge and flagged-off Swachh Bharat walkathon.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan includes sweeping, removal of garbage, debris and unauthorised encroachments from roads, markets and residential places.

The campaign is aimed at making India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
