The Google Play store for devices like Nexus phones and tablets will now allow users to start a video chat with a salesperson who can answer any question about Chromebooks, Android Wear, or other devices that Google sells directly through the site.

The service, which is built off of Google's video lesson platform Helpouts, is titled Google Device Experts, reported The Verge.

The assistants however, will not be available for tech support now.

Employees involved with the service said that the service was being tested as an experimental support feature and feedback is being gathered. However, it has not been spotted till now. A Google spokesperson said that the firm is not ready to share full plans yet.

Google is rumoured to have grand plans for the service as a source revealed that the tech giant may also be planning to "go into retail stores with a virtual help desk to enhance the shopping experience."

The report said that the feature could be Google's answer to Apple's immensely popular "Genius Bar" that offers free support across all of the company's retail outlets.

For now, users can access Google Device Experts through the devices section of Google Play. Assistants are said to be available to answer users' queries from 9AM to 9PM Eastern time.
