New Zealand bowlers displayed a scintillating performance as the home side pulled off a crushing 138-run win over Pakistan on Day Five of the second Test to complete the two-match series whitewash at the Seddon Park here on Tuesday.

Chasing a daunting target of 369 runs, openers Sami Aslam (91) and stand-in skipper Azhar Ali (58) provided their side with a solid start by sharing a crucial 131-run partnership.

However, Pakistan failed to build partnership after the duo's dismissal and were eventually bundled out for 230 runs. Apart from Kiwis' skillful bowling, it was Pakistan's horrendous batting which led to their downfall as they lost their last nine wickets for just 90 odd runs.

Tim Southee, who was adjudged Man of the Match, was the pick of the bowlers for the Black Caps as he picked two wickets to add to his first innings' figures of six for 80.

Neil Wagner bagged three wickets while Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry and Colin de Grandhomme shared four wickets among themselves.

Earlier, Ross Taylor struck a 102-run knock while Tom Latham made pivotal 80 to guide their side to the second innings' score of 313-5 declared.

With the win, New Zealand have achieved a milestone by winning their first Test series on their home soil against Pakistan after more than 30 years.

Meanwhile, it was also New Zealand's first home Test series win under skipper Kane Williamson. It was also the biggest win for New Zealand against Pakistan in terms of runs.

The hosts had won the opening Test against Pakistan by eight wickets at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
