Former American football player OJ Simpson has told a parole board that he has been in jail for a long time now and should therefore be allowed a reduced sentence.
According to The Washington Times, Simpson expressed that his five years behind bars were somewhat illuminating at times apart from being painful and he had missed his two younger kids who had worked hard getting through high school and he missed his sister's funeral.
Simpson has been serving time for kidnapping, armed robbery and other counts related to his assault at a Las Vegas casino to take back items he said were his, the report said.
The parole board will rule on his request in the next couple weeks but he cannot get out immediately and at best, he will have to serve four more years, the report added.
