A protest against Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan in Lucknow claimed one life and injured more than ten people here on Friday.
The protests erupted because of Azam Khan's decision to sell Waqf Board properties.
Shia cleric Kalbe Jawwad vociferously criticized both Azam Khan and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and vowed to carry on the protests across the state.
"God will definitely punish them but we will bring them to justice here in this land. Shia Muslims in UP are deeply disgruntled and are not afraid of police arrests, in fact they are welcomed to arrest us," said Jawwad.
The protesters demanded president's rule in the state
The protesters clashed with the police due to which the latter had to resort to a baton charge and hurl teargas shells.
