A soldier has reportedly been killed in a gun battle between the militants and security forces in Pindi post of Jammu and Kashmir's RS Pura sector today.

"Terrorists have entered the area and heavy firing is taking place. So far, two to three people have been shot dead which include army soldiers also. They have been shifted. The firing is still going on as loud noises could be heard," said Pankaj, a villager.

"It's a very dangerous situation right now; firing is going on. The army personnel are saying that many militants have come," added another villager Satpal.

Earlier today, two soldiers were injured in an encounter between the militants and security forces near Pindi post.

The Border Security Force (BSF) cordoned off the area after the villagers reported the movement of militants in Arnia Sector.

The operation against the militants is still underway. Further details are awaited.
