Following a significant volatility last week, market indices began trading on a positive note here on Monday morning.
While the BSE's Sensex rose 214.67 points to 34,220.43, Nifty was at 10,515.15, after a surge of 60.20 points.
All sectoral indices traded in green, with L&T, Marico, Bata India, Manappuram Finance, and Oil India recording gains.
Meanwhile, the Indian rupee recovered by 15 paise to 64.25 against the dollar, after its previous close of a near two-month low of 64.40, largely due to fresh selling of the US currency by exporters and banks, amid a higher opening in domestic equity markets.
