The AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) faction on Friday announced the setting up of a committee to oversee merger talks between the camps headed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami and his predecessor O. Panneerselvam.
OPS campaign leader, K. Pandiarajan told ANI, "We have a got a formal invite from EPS (CM Edapadi Palaniswami) camp for appointing a committee. We have agreed that we will go ahead and nominate the committee very soon by the end of the day."
Pandirajan informed that they have already submitted lakhs of affidavits, adding that they will continue to do work towards the goal of having talks with the rival faction.
"We will engage in discussions with the other party," he added.
Talks for a merger between the OPSand EPS camps gained ground after an FIR was registered against AIADMK T.T.V. Dinakaran for bribing Election Commission officials for staking claim of the 'Two Leaves' symbol of the party.
