South African Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has broken his silence on anniversary of Valentine's day death of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
Pistorius, who is accused of murdering his girlfriend, has broken his long public silence to describe her death as a 'devastating accident'.
According to the Guardian, Pistorius issued a statement to mark the first anniversary of the Valentine's day tragedy in which he shot Steenkamp three times through a toilet door at his home in Pretoria, South Africa.
Pistorius has maintained that he believed her to be an intruder.
"The pain and sadness, especially for Reeva's parents, family and friends consumes me with sorrow. The loss of Reeva and the complete trauma of that day, I will carry with me for the rest of my life - Oscar wrote in a message penned for her late girlfriend.
