Former cricketer Vinod Kambli who along with his wife has been booked for allegedly assaulting and wrongfully confining their domestic help, said on Sunday that their maid had no proof to back her charges and added that she had not been abused at any point by the couple.

"This allegation is wrong and she should prove it. She does not have any documents to back her statement. A law should be made, otherwise they will keep blaming anything," Kambli told ANI here.

Kambli's wife Andrew Hewitt alleged that their domestic help was into drugs.

"There was no doubt that she was into drugs. It was recently that it came to my notice that she was taking drugs," she said.

She also said that they have CCTV cameras in their house which are on all the time, and from the footage collected for it, all the allegations against them of physical abuse would be proved wrong. She added that the maid had not been doing her job properly among other things.

"The girl's job was to take my boy to the school and bring him back. One day she took extra money from me and went to pick up my boy. She did not return on time so I called the school but I got blasted as nobody came to pick up my son. She is never here regularly," Hewitt said.

Soni, who was the domestic help for the Kambli's alleged that she was often beaten up, threatened and abused by the couple.

"They would beat me and would not let me rest all day. They would abuse me. Kambli would slap me after getting drunk. He would wake me up in the middle of the night and ask me to serve him alcohol. They also took away my phone," Soni told ANI.

She also accused Kambli of threatening to kill her.

"I thought of complaining earlier, but they would threaten to burn my house and to kill me," she added.
