The Australia media has hailed in-form all-rounder Steve Smith for making the most of his opportunities, saying that he has come a long way in this year.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, although Smith did not succeed purely with luck, but there can be no doubt that he has made the most of his good fortune this year, which he started developing his game domestically and will finish it having established himself as a long-term Test player.
The report mentioned that along the way, there have been a chain of unrelated events that Smith was able to turn in his favour through good form and being in the right place at the right time, including his selection in the ill-fated India tour and although he was shelved for the summer Ashes, he received the nod again after blazing a century for Australia A.
Smith said he was yet to reflect on what he described as an amazing year, adding that the tour of India was a major factor in his development.
