Australian fast bowling legend Jeff Thomson has said that current pace sensation Mitchell Johnson would be 'smelling the fear' in his South African opponents every time he comes in to bowl.

Johnson followed up his 37 wickets in the recent Ashes series against England with 12 scalps in the first Test against the No.1 ranked Test side in the world with a combination of relentless accuracy and ruthless aggression at Centurion Park.

According to News.com.au, considered the fastest ever bowler, Thomson, who terrorised opponents throughout the 1970s and '80s with his sheer pace, said that Johnson would be feeling the power of being at the top of his form and can sense and 'smell' his opponent's worry and fear.

Loving at what Johnson is producing at the moment, the 200-wicket taker said that it is a welcome from the fast bowling prospects that were on the scene for a long time, adding that Johnson has fixed up his bowling action and is a completely different man from the one he was during the past stages of his career.

Thomson also said that more than Johnson's brutal pace, it is the combination of speed and accuracy that have seen so many fall victim to his bowling, adding that Johnson will continue his mission of helping propel his team to the top of the rankings in the second Test without worrying about any collateral damage.
