Oz vows to emulate Langer's 'gritty fighting legacy' to salvage Ashes hopes

Australian batsmen has reportedly vowed to draw on the fighting legacy of former Test great Justin Langer and get their hands dirty trying to save the Ashes at Old Trafford.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, most of the squad has played under Langer, who only quit as batting coach last year, and will be trying to emulate him as he was one of the most successful players Australia has seen, even though he often gave the impression he was courageously battling for survival.

According to opener Chris Rogers, Langer's motto has seemed to work for him, adding that there is no other option for the team but to fight as hard as they can and try not to surrender their wickets too easily, like they have been doing in the first two Tests.

Meanwhile, the report further said that it would be foolish on Australia's part to leave batsman David Warner out of the third Test given his 193 for Australia A last week, as he can be a crucial part in boosting the side to win, which is needed to avoid not only a third straight Ashes series defeat, but the worst losing run in Australian Test history.

Praising Warner, Rogers also said that the batsman has the potential to influence a match from the middle-order like wicketkeeping legend Adam Gilchrist, adding that being a destructive player, Warner will be tried to be given out by the opposition quickly.
