National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said any package won't work in the Valley until the Centre engages itself in a dialogue with Pakistan over the Kashmir issue.

"Till the time the issue of Jammu and Kashmir is not solved, no package can work in Kashmir," Abdullah told reporters here.

"The Prime Minister is coming on November 7; let's see what he can give to the people of Kashmir. I would say a package won't fulfil the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. The most important issue is the Kashmir issue, and there is growing need for the government to talk with Pakistan to solve the issue," he added.

Abdullah further criticised the Centre over rising intolerance across the country, saying it would further torment the nation into pieces, if not controlled.

"The new rage of communalism in the country needs to be controlled and Prime Minister Modi should pay attention to that," he added.

Prime Minister Modi will address a rally in Srinagar's Sheri-e-Kashmir Stadium on November 7 - his first after the Peoples Democratic Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formed an coalition government in the state.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to first inaugurate the Phase II of the Baghlihar Hydroelectric Power Project in Jammu, and then he will visit Srinagar to address the rally.
