Sixth seeded pair of Bopanna and Romania's Florin Mergea were beaten 4-6, 4-6 by third seeded Croatian-Brazilian duo of Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo.
On the other hand, Indo-Polish combo of Paes and Marcin Matkowski produced a battling performance but went down 6-7 (14), 3-6 to fifth seeded American pair of Mile and Bob Bryan.
Meanwhile, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and her Croatian partner Dodig will clash against French pair of Alize Cornet-Jonathan Eysseric later in the day.
