Pakistan's Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the detention of the alleged Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi today.
According to Dawn News, Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi presided over today's hearing following Lakhvi's petition seeking an end to his detention.
On December 18, Lakhvi was granted a bail after his arrest by an anti terrorism court (ATC) while the federal government extended his detention in the Adiala Jail under the Maintenance of Public Order ordinance.
Lakhvi's counsel said that the detention of Lakhvi by the administration after the court granted him bail was unlawful.
He also said that granting a bail was a fundamental right of his client.
