India's Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan J P Singh was summoned by the Pakistan Foreign Office on Thursday for second day in a row to register Islamabad's protest against India's alleged ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to an official statement, "The Director General (SA & SAARC) summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner today, and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian forces in Nikial and Nezapir Sectors on 19th July 2017, resulting in Shahadat of 2 civilians, one in Nikial Sector and another in Nezapir Sector, and injuries to 5 others."

Director General (SA & SAARC), Dr. Mohammad Faisal, also urged the Indian side to respect the November 2003 ceasefire arrangement and investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations, said the statement.

It added that the Indian side was urged to instruct Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC.

He also urged that the Indian side should permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria condemned the alleged attack at Nezapir, Sabzkot and Kayani Sectors by Indian forces that killed two civilians and a soldier.

Yesterday, Pakistan summoned the Indian envoy after two civilians were killed and six others were injured in alleged ceasefire violations along the Line of Control by Indian troops.
