A group of teachers in Pakistan are reportedly taking up arms to protect their students from terrorist attacks similar to the Dec 16 Peshawar school massacre.
According to Dawn, government authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have given permission for teachers to carry concealed firearms in response to the Dec 16 attack.
While many teachers are opposed to the idea of arming educators with guns, some are of the view that carrying arms is the only solution.
37-year-old school teacher Tabinda says going to work unarmed does not feel like an option anymore and says that she would have no qualms in killing terrorists who killed innocents.
She along with 10 other female colleagues at the Frontier College for Women is learning how to use a handgun in order to help protect their students.
Meenadar Khan, a teacher at Government High School in Peshawar, said that some teachers licensed and trained to carry firearms already have begun bringing them to their classrooms.
