Pakistan-Afghanistan border security beefed up post Lahore suicide bomb attack

Following Monday's suicide bomb attack in Lahore, which resulted in the death of 13 persons and injuries to many others, the Pakistan government has reportedly issued orders to law enforcement agencies to increase patrolling and surveillance along the country's borders with Afghanistan.

A Radio Pakistan report said that law enforcement agencies have increased patrolling, surveillance and checking at check points in the aftermath of explosions in Lahore and Quetta.

Security forces are said to be on a state of high alert to stop infiltration from Afghanistan.

He said all important measures are and will be taken to ensure security of Pakistan's borders and to step up efforts to flush out terrorism.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has also said that terrorism will be completely eliminated from every part of Pakistan.

Chairing a meeting in Lahore on Tuesday, he said the incidents of terrorism can neither lower our national resolve nor can affect our ongoing efforts against terrorism.

The Army Chief said the terrorists, their masters, financiers and abettors will be traced across the country, and held accountable.

He said the gains against terrorism over the years will not be allowed to be reversed.

The army chief also visited bereaved family of Deputy Inspector General of Police Mubeen and offered Fateha.

He also expressed his grief and condolence with other bereaved families of the blast.
